/ Our Appeal: 40 Years of Occupation is Enough!

Ever since June 1967, areas including East Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights have been under Israeli occupation. The occupation has caused immeasurable pain and suffering to the dispossessed Palestinian people. In 2004, the International Court of Justice in Den Haag declared the process of building the wall on occupied territory to be illegal, and demanded compensation for the affected population. With the destruction of homes, detention of prisoners, with torture and executions outside of any law, the occupying military power continually violates the Geneva Convention.

The campaign titled '40 Years of Occupation is Enough!' calls for an end to the occupation.

cfd supports the campaign, and demands

/ that Swiss politicians take concrete steps to ensure compliance with International Law,

/ that investment in companies profiting from the occupation, such as Veolia/Connex, Caterpillar, Carmel/Agrexco and Soda Club, should be stopped,

/ that military cooperation with the Israeli army should cease, and other arms deals should be banned,

/ that support should be given to groups in both societies that are working towards a non-violent solution of the conflict.

The campaign, lasted from 3 until 9 June 2007, involved demonstrations with a caravan, a human chain, and non-violent activities for solidarity.
