/ No Peace without Gender Equality

For women, the absence of peace means living in militarised, nationalised and patriarchal societies. It also implies being excluded from access to power and other resources. In the absence of peace, women have to face increased personal, structural and cultural violence, as well as gender-based discrimination.

Gender equality is a central element of the feminist politics of peace. The feminist approach to dealing with conflict and working for peace does not begin with the outbreak of the conflict itself, nor does it end with a cease fire. Feminist peace policies are based on a comprehensive understanding of peace. They aim at creating a world in which women and men have equal opportunities to realise a good life.

cfd's various activities and projects, in the areas of migration, international co-operation and peace building, are all guided by the feminist politics of peace. Based on this broad definition of peace, cfd unceasingly strives for gender equality, and equal access to resources and the public domain for women and men, as well as for their political and social participation, irrespective of their origins.
