Breaking the Logic of Displacement

Friday, 25. April 2008, 9.00–18.00
Kornhausforum Berne, Stadtsaal, 1. floor

The Nakba, the forced displacement of about two thirds of the Arab population in the wake of the establishment of the state of Israel is not simply history but also topical today. For decades, Israel has denied essential fundamental rights to the Palestinians and continues to pursue the displacement policy. The Palestinian society continues to be threatened in its collective existence.
The conference will focus on projects and approaches of Palestinian and Israeli organisations, activists, and experts who will present alternatives to a political and social understanding based on displacement and exclusion. However, they will also name the problems which are in the way of an equal existence of everybody living in this region.
