/ Eappi: Monitoring Human Rights in Palestine / Israel

The cfd is one of the Swiss supporting organisations for the 'Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel Eappi'. This international program monitors the implementation of Human Rights and protects civilians. It was initiated by the World Council of Churches at the request of the local churches.

Peace Watch Switzerland has been asked to train volunteers before they leave on a three-month assignment to watch over the implementation of Human Rights and to support local activists. On site they take children through the checkpoints, provide a witnessing presence in villages that are affected by the construction of the wall, and accompany members of NGO's while they do their work.

'See and be seen', is the motto of Eappi Switzerland. The presence of international observers diminishes the number of violent assaults on civilians and encourages non-violent approaches to managing conflicts.
