/ Migration is a Fact
For individuals, migration can be an option. For states it is usually a source of irritation they would prefer to dispose of. Dominant political actors continue to demand further restrictive policies. More and more, integration is considered a feat that is to be accomplished unilaterally by the immigrants themselves. Due to these one-sided political debates, issues surrounding migration and integration are receiving less public attention and resources. One-sided views also inhibit the necessary perception of migration as a 'normal' phenomenon, and as an integral part of modern society. By doing so they hinder the individual, social and political efforts to guide and shape the processes involved.
cfd counters discrimination that is based on origin or sex with a non-racist and non-sexist approach. The organisation works against prejudice and stereotypes by using a diversity of images that can adequately convey different life realities. cfd places a strong emphasis on the public representation of women and their views, interests and demands.
With empowerment projects in the areas of work, education and gender-specific violence, cfd opens up new possibilities for woman migrants and is working on a feminist approach to migration. Empowerment projects create spaces in which the reality of women can be acknowledged. In these spaces skills can be enhanced, policies can be developed and political action planned.
In all matters concerning policies of migration, cfd is clearly positioned against exclusion on the grounds of origin, and actively defends the Women's Rights.
