/ Arab villages get bus routes
Kayan's project «Women Demand Mobility», supported by cfd, is successfull: Arab villages finally get bus routes!
The Transportation Ministry announced in July 2010 that for the first time in Israel's history, public transportation services will be offered to Arab settlements. Within two months, new public transportation bus lines will begin operating in Arab villages in the North and Center of Israel, three years after Kayan and the Ministry started the planning process. According to Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, public transportation is planned to be introduced into all Arab towns and villages. Katz stated that «public transportation in the non-Jewish sector will lead to increases in residents' employment and particularly in women's participation, leading to an increase in quality of life.»
In the name of the women who will benefit from the new bus lines, Kayan and cfd thank you very much for supporting the «Women Demand Mobility» project.
