cfd analyses the links between violence in war and violence in daily life from a feminist point of view. Excluding women from participating in society and politics and denying them access to resources is an everyday form of violence. cfd works with a comprehensive understanding of peace that does not begin with the outbreak of the conflict itself, nor does it end with cease-fire, but includes gender equality, equal access to resources and prevention of gender-based violence.
Carrying out campaigns on gender and peace-building issues and commenting current political developments from a feminist point of view are an integral part of cfd’s political activism. cfd collaborates with various national networks on campaigns, lobbying and advocacy activities. cfd involves the public that shares its views in its outreach activities. Together we demonstrate ways to end discrimination and violence along with the beliefs that keep them in place.
Currently, cfd is mobilising a network of women’s rights organisations to launch the swiss part of the international «16 days against violence against women» campaign. cfd is also part of the campaign against trafficking of women during the European Football Championship taking place in Switzerland in June 2008.
With a number of other women’s rights organisation cfd lobbied the Swiss government towards implementation of UN Resolution 1325. A post card campaign «1325 - the code is not secret» was a success. Afterwards Switzerland developed and endorsed a National Action Plan 1325. Now civil society has a lot to do actively monitoring its implementation.
